You asked, we answered. What’s the best stroller?

Sometimes parents reach out to us asking for product recommendations. Recently, we received a question about what the best stroller out there is.  But just like there’s no one car that’s best for every family (that tricked-out sports car just won’t fit a family with four kids), the stroller that’s right for your family might not be right for another. That being said, there are certainly safety issues to be aware of in choosing a stroller for ... A Closer Look SaferProducts.gov

KID recently took a look through the SaferProducts.gov posting board to see what consumers were talking about. We noticed some interesting patterns to watch out for so you and your loved ones can stay safe from these potential hazards. There were 30 children’s product-related consumer reports in the month of December.  The incidents ranged from safety failures of strollers to toys causing bruising, cuts, or pulling out hair. There were many ... Read more

Young Engineers Develop New Child Product Safety Designs

Did you know that 25% of the 5,160 people who experience microwave-related burns annually are children under the age of 36 months? In fact, children often can easily open a microwave door and remove the bowl, putting them at risk for spilling scalding hot liquid on themselves. How to make high chairs and strollers safer

According to CPSC, 25,500 children under age 5 are rushed to emergency rooms each year for injuries from high chairs or strollers.  Many of the injuries come from falls, but they are also caused by design flaws that lead to entrapments or lacerations and finger tip amputations.  There have been 14 stroller recalls and 5 high chair recalls since June 2012, involving thousands of units, hundreds of injuries and deaths. CPSC, under Section 104 of ... Bobby’s story: a warning about recalled Graco Strollers

Bobby's grandmother recently shared his story on our Family Voices website. Bobby Dean died in 2007 when he was trapped between the seat and food tray of a Graco stroller. Graco finally recalled this product in 2010, but did not mention Bobby's death, only reporting on four earlier deaths and other injuries between 2003 and 2005. Had the recall taken place earlier, Bobby's life might have been spared. Another death was reported on SaferProducts.gov ... Read more
