Update: HR 5348(McAsey-Pihos) passed the Illinois House Consumer Protection Committee on 3/25 by a vote of 9-5.  Illinois residents can call their House of Representatives member and urge support.  Representative McAsey proposed a bill, HB5348, to ban bumper pads in Illinois earlier this winter. Sale of bumper pads now banned in Maryland

Maryland is the first state in the nation to propose, and put into effect, a ban on the sale of crib bumper pads. This new regulation was adopted last November by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH), and came into effect on June 21, 2013. CPSC and Baby Matters settle suit over Nap Nanny, announce full recall

On Friday, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Baby Matters LLC announced a settlement of the administrative case CPSC filed late last year after five deaths in the infant sleep product.  In addition to the deaths, there were 92 incidents in which babies fell partially out of the product into potentially dangerous positions.
