Honoring Danny’s 21 st Birthday

This New Years Eve at KID, we are recognizing the 21st birthday of Danny Keysar. It’s impossible for us to know how Danny would be celebrating this milestone – he was taken from his family at 16 months by an unsafe crib. At the time, the childcare facility where Danny was fatally entrapped had no idea that Danny’s crib had been recalled 5 years earlier. Danny was the crib’s 5th victim, and in total 19 children died in cribs of that ... Read more

Mark Danny’s 20th birthday by helping KID grow stronger

In 1998, 16-month-old Danny Keysar was killed when a portable crib collapsed on his neck while he was napping in his childcare home. He would have turned 20 this December 31st. Danny’s parents, Linda Ginzel and Boaz Keysar, founded Kids In Danger (KID) to advocate for children’s product safety so that no family would suffer the same loss. We are so proud of all that has been accomplished in the years since KID’s founding. We have achieved ... Read more

Some States Fail to Keep Recalled Products out of Childcare Facilities

Busy parents rely on childcare facilities to provide care for their children in a safe, nurturing, and educational environment. And yet, products that are deemed unsafe by the CPSC and recalled by manufacturers may still be found in some child care homes or centers! KID looked into each state’s child care regulations to see if they prohibit dangerous recalled products from childcare facilities. Shockingly, we found that only 25 of the 50 states ... Read more

A Fond Farewell: Q & A with Laura

Laura has been with us since 2012, and has recently decided to move on from KID. A devoted Program Director, she has done much to support and drive the mission of KID, reaching out to communities and giving countless informative presentations. As she looks to move forward with new opportunities and experiences, she reflects on her time with us.  What drew you to KID? When I initially looked into the organization, it was not what I thought ... Read more

Honoring Danny’s memory

On December 31, Danny Keysar would have turned 19. However, a collapsing portable crib tragically took his life before he even reached two. In the years since his death, KID, founded by Danny’s parents, has worked to further his legacy and ensure that other children do not fall prey to a flawed system, which too often allows poorly designed and inadequately tested products to reach the market. The work we have done to change this system has only ... Read more

Mother’s Day & KID

Today, many of us are with our mothers, our children or perhaps both -- celebrating Mother’s Day.  Here at KID we wish you all a wonderful day together.  Mothers and children are at the heart of our work.  We work every day to keep toys and nursery products safe and alert parents and caregivers to dangers – so they can remove them from their homes and facilities. KID started our work seventeen years ago this week.  On May 12, 1998 little ... Danny’s 18th Birthday

This Wednesday, on the last day of 2014, Danny Keysar would be turning 18.  A young adult, planning his next steps to college to fulfill the potential all parents see in their children.  But Danny isn’t here – he died before his second birthday in a poorly designed, inadequately tested, recalled portable crib.  His parents founded KID as Danny’s legacy to keep other children safe. KID’s work is done to honor the memory of Danny and other ...
