Support the Illinois Crib Bumper Pad Ban

Update: HR 5348(McAsey-Pihos) passed the Illinois House Consumer Protection Committee on 3/25 by a vote of 9-5.  Illinois residents can call their House of Representatives member and urge support.  Representative McAsey proposed a bill, HB5348, to ban bumper pads in Illinois earlier this winter. KID Running Team rocks the Naperville Marathon

It was a chilly, but sunny fall morning Sunday when the KID Running Team joined thousands of other runners to compete in the Edwards Hospital Naperville Inaugural Full & Half Marathon.  KID had 26 runners who raised almost $16,000 for our vital work to keep children safe.  Some set personal records for the race, for others it was their first half-marathon.  Check out the pictures here.It’s never too early to start thinking about the next ... Injury prevention discussed at events this week and next

CPSC to initiate rulemaking on crib bumper pads

Early in 2010, KID learned of two deaths involving crib bumper pads.  One was six month old Aiden in Texas, the other, 2 month old Preston in Alaska.  These preventable deaths strengthened our resolve to warn parents about the dangers of crib bumper pads.  KID had begun addressing the issue after the 2007 release of ground-breaking research by Dr. Bradley Thach showing a link between crib bumper pad use and infant death. Flash forward to today.  ... A check-up on Chicago’s ban on crib bumpers

No more dangerous bumpers sold in Chicago
