Kids In Danger works to educate the public about dangerous, recalled products.
We are actively working on expanding the reach and scope of our product safety message.
We are looking for volunteers to work with KID staff and the PR chair on developing and implementing
a public relations plan for Kids In Danger.
Previous experience in public relations and excellent
communication skills are highly desired.
Safe from the Start, KID's main educational program,
seeks to establish KID as a highly visible resource on children's
product safety by broadening the scope and reach of our message, and
expanding local outreach efforts.
The program assistant will help in our
efforts to target networks of health care professionals, childcare providers
and parents, and the publications that target those populations. On a local level
, we work to save young lives by integrating KID safety materials into pediatrician
waiting and exam rooms, parenting skills and prenatal health classes, community
centers and other organizations that have contact with new and expectant parents.
The program assistant will help with research and outreach efforts, and general office
work.
Research, schedule, coordinate and conduct presentations on children's product safety
to child care providers, parents and other caregivers. Training and materials provided.
Ability to travel throughout greater Chicago area, excellent communication skills and proficiency
in Microsoft Powerpoint are recommended skills. Fluency in Spanish a BIG PLUS!
Spread the word! Outreach educators provide lifesaving information to parents
on how to protect children from dangerous recalled products at a wide variety of
health events throughout the Chicago area. This includes talking to the public about
Kids In Danger and recalled products, giving basic information and handing out materials.
There are tons of public events in the warmer months and it s a great opportunity to
spread the word in our communities about how to protect children from recalled products.
Materials and training provided. Event Representatives can submit ideas for events
on our website KidsInDanger.org or look on the volunteer tab for upcoming events.
Excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and a desire to work with the general
public are important. Volunteers will attend an orientation before working events.
KID depends on individual donations for much of our educational programming.
In the community: YOU can help KID raise money in creative, interesting and fun ways
using KID's 10 Ways to Raise Money. This is a great way to get involved if you have
a limited ability to travel, need flexibility, or to work primarily in your immediate community.
If you want to help in a BIG way, volunteer on KID's fundraising committee to plan and implement
our organizational fundraising initiatives.
KID seeks to expand our community outreach efforts across the greater Chicago area. The outreach coordinator will research, coordinate and schedule events. Outreach coordinators may also work as Event Representatives or Outreach Educators. The volunteer should be comfortable conducting internet research, should be very organized and should have great communication skills. This position allows for a certain amount of creativity in finding new ways and places for our lifesaving information to reach the public!
Seeking one computer guru to assist in maintaining and improving computer systems. Volunteer should have basic familiarity with PC computer systems.
A big part of KID's mission is to reach the public with lifesaving information about recalled products. We are seeking Spanish speakers to help in all areas of our outreach efforts. Translating our safety materials, attending events on behalf of Kids In Danger in Spanish speaking communities, or even conducting workshop presentations in Spanish! Help reach EVERYONE with this lifesaving product safety message.
Working closely with KID staff, help improve and maintain Kids In Danger's website. Previous experience with computers and knowledge of Adobe GoLive are necessary.
