Today marks 20 years since KID was incorporated by Linda Ginzel and Boaz Keysar following the death of their son, Danny. Frustrated by the flawed product safety system, Linda and Boaz were determined to take action to prevent other families from suffering similar tragedies. In 1998, less than a month after Danny’s death, KID was founded.

Over the past 20 years, KID has talked to thousands of parents, petitioned policymakers, regulators and advocates, and launched innovative programs such as Safe from the Start (SFTS) and Teach Early Safety Testing (TEST). In 2008, after much effort, President Bush signed the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), which called for strong federal standards for nursery products and toys. A portion of that legislation was named in honor of Danny Keysar. Because of KID, babies born now, 20 years after Danny, sleep and play in a safer world.

Even after 20 years of victories, KID still feels the urgency of fighting for product safety. In the next 20 years, we will continue to save lives by enhancing transparency and accountability through safer product development, better education, and stronger advocacy for children.

We cannot do this vital work without your support. Join us in the fight for product safety by donating $20 for 20 years or give more to keep KID moving forward. Together, we will make this world safer for all children.

Cheers to 20 years of KID and join us for 20 more.
