The Project Safe Child Third Annual Walk-a-Thon went off successfully, with great weather and great participation. Thanks to all who came and all who supported the event, and to the hard work of event organizers Michele Witte and Susan Cirigliano. The event which included t-shirts, raffles and the walk raised over $2,000 to help fund KID’s efforts to ensure child safety

The event was held in memory of Tyler Jonathan Witte and Bobby Cirigliano, who were killed by drop-side cribs, which have since been banned by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Tyler and Bobby’s family started the Walk-a-thon to honor their sons and to ensure that no more children will be killed because of dangerous children’s products.

At the event, Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg presented KID and the group with a citation for our work in keeping children safe.

The one-mile walk alongside the beautiful Cedar Creek Park in Seaford, New York was followed by refreshments and a raffle. Because of the generosity of London Jewelers, we were able to raffle off a beautiful diamond bracelet, among other prizes.

We hope to see you all at next year’s event! You can still donate to support the walkers.
